Every Step Counts: ClearPath Health Joins Walk in My Shoes to Protect Childhood in Pasco County
Some causes call you to show up not just with your words, but with your feet — one deliberate step at a time. On April 10, 2026, ClearPath Health answered that call.
Our team was proud and humbled to join Lauren's Kids Foundation, Pasco Kids First, Sunrise of Pasco, and thousands of walkers from across the state of Florida for the 2026 Walk in My Shoes — a remarkable 1,500-mile trek beginning at the Southernmost Point of the United States in Key West and ending in Florida's capital city of Tallahassee.
Every single step of that journey carried a purpose larger than the miles themselves.
We Walked Because Children Cannot Wait
In communities across this state — in neighborhoods just like yours and mine — children are carrying burdens no child should ever have to bear. The statistics are staggering, and they demand that we stop, pay attention, and refuse to look away.
1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will suffer sexual abuse before graduating high school. Those are not just numbers. Those are children sitting in classrooms, playing in backyards, and trusting the adults around them to keep them safe. They are our children. And they deserve every ounce of courage we can muster on their behalf.
But here is what gives me hope — real, grounded, roll-up-your-sleeves hope:
95% of child sexual abuse is preventable with education and awareness.
Ninety-five percent. That means we have the power to change this. Not someday. Not eventually. Now — with the choices we make, the conversations we are willing to have, and the communities we are determined to build.
This is why we walk.
Standing Shoulder to Shoulder With Our Community
On April 10th, our team was deeply honored to join Lauren's Kids Foundation, Pasco Kids First, Sunrise of Pasco, and thousands of passionate, purpose-driven Floridians for the 2026 Walk in My Shoes — a breathtaking 1,500-mile journey stretching from the Southernmost Point of the United States in Key West all the way to our state's capital in Tallahassee.
Think about that for a moment. Fifteen hundred miles. Walked by people who refused to stay silent. People who understood that showing up — physically, visibly, unapologetically — sends a message that no press release ever could.
Whether someone walked a single block or many miles, every step was a declaration: we see these children, we believe survivors, and we will not stop.

April Is a Call to Action — For All of Us
April is both National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month — and at ClearPath Health, we believe that awareness without action is simply not enough.
We have always believed that the work of protecting children belongs to all of us — not just to advocates and therapists and lawmakers, but to every parent, every neighbor, every teacher, every friend. Prevention begins in the everyday moments: the conversations we are brave enough to start, the questions we are willing to ask, the silence we refuse to keep.
Talk to the children in your life about body safety and boundaries. Create a home where hard truths can be spoken out loud. And when a child trusts you with something painful — listen. Believe them. And get them the help they deserve.
The Healing That Happens After
At ClearPath Health, we know that prevention is only half of the story.
Because for the children — and the adults they become — who have already experienced trauma, the journey does not end when the harm stops. The effects of childhood trauma ripple quietly and powerfully across a lifetime, often showing up as anxiety, depression, difficulty trusting others, and a deep, unnamed ache that never quite goes away.
Healing is possible. Real, lasting, life-changing healing. But it requires the right support, the right environment, and the unwavering belief that what happened to you does not have to define who you become.
This is the work we show up for every single day at ClearPath Health. And it is why events like Walk in My Shoes are not just meaningful to us — they are personal.
Gratitude for the People Who Make This Possible
We are so deeply grateful to Lauren's Kids Foundation, whose fearless advocacy and evidence-based prevention education has already reached over two million children across Florida. Their vision — a world where every child is safe and every survivor is supported — is a vision we share completely.
And to Pasco Kids First and Sunrise of Pasco — thank you for being the kind of community partners who remind us what it looks like to serve with your whole heart.
None of this happens without community. None of this happens without you.
Your Next Step Starts Here
If April has stirred something in you — if these words have landed somewhere deep and true — please do not let that feeling pass without acting on it.
You can donate, volunteer, and advocate through laurenskidswalk.org. You can start a conversation in your home, your school, your house of worship, or your workplace. You can choose to be the kind of adult that a child in your life knows they can trust.
And if you or someone you love is carrying the weight of past trauma — please know this with everything you have: you are not alone, you are not to blame, and you absolutely deserve to heal.
We Are Here — Whenever You Are Ready
At ClearPath Health, we provide compassionate, trauma-informed outpatient counseling for children, teens, adults, and families throughout the Pasco County community. We meet people exactly where they are — with no judgment, no pressure, and no pretense.
When you are ready to take that first step, we will be right here, ready to walk alongside you.
